Lattelecom mulls free decoder plan

Latvian telco Lattelecom plans to offer free digital decoders to up to 70,000 low-income households on the condition that it is granted an extension of its digital-terrestrial TV broadcasting rights to 2018, according to press reports.

Lattelecom currently holds DTT rights up to 2013. The operator reportedly had signed up about 30,000 digital-terrestrial customers by late January.
