New Intelsat satellite successfully launched

Satellite operator Intelsat has announced the successful launch of the Intelsat 14 satellite onboard an Atlas V rocket from United Launch Alliance.

The Space Systems/Loral-built satellite will provide C- and Ku-band coverage over Latin America, Europe and Africa, replacing Intelsat 1R at the 45° West position.

The launch kicks off an 11-satellite investment programme by Intelsat, which it describes as the largest such programme in its history.
