Motorola acquires BitBand

Technology giant Motorola has acquired Israel-based IPTV video-on-demand specialist BitBand for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter and BitBand will be integrated into Motorola’s Home & Networks Mobility business. BitBand customers include Tele 2 Netherlands, Fastweb in Italy and Svyazinvest in Russia.

Motorola said that the addition of BitBand would bring additional expertise in IPTV and products for content delivery networks and over-the-top services to the division, as well as BitBand’s strong European presence.
