UEFA signs EBU Euro 2012 deal

European football body UEFA has signed a deal with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) for the exclusive broadcasting rights to the UEFA Euro 2012 tournament, to be held jointly in Ukraine and Poland.

The deal covers a total of 36 European territories. EBU members will be granted the broadcasting rights in 29 of those territories, where a minimum of 27 of the tournament’s 31 matches will be broadcast live on free-to-air channels.

UEFA said it will work with the EBU to identify the best platform for the broadcasting rights in the remaining seven countries.
The deal also covers mobile and internet portals.
