MTV and Numericable team for double-play offer

MTV Networks France and French cable operator Numericable have teamed together to launch an MTV-branded double-play service consisting of TV, VOD and internet access.

For €14.90 per month, subscribers will receive an MTV-branded HD set-top that gives access to over 30 TV channels, including those in MTV Networks’ portfolio and six HD channels, including Game One Music HD, MTVHD and TNT HD.  The box also offers access to an MTV portal offering catch-up services for MTV, MTV Base, MTV Pulse, MTV Idol and Game One along with Numericable’s VOD catalogue of over 8,000 titles.

Separately, fresh from yesterday’s announcement that it will launch a TV widget service, Numericable has made another step towards bringing web 2.0 services to the TV. The operator has signed a deal with online video service Dailymotion that will enable the cable operator’s subscribers to search for and watch videos from the service via the TV.
