Swisscom teams up with Lausanne utility for fibre network

Swisscom has tamed up with utility company Lausanne Industrial Services to construct a pilot fibre-to-the-home network in Lausanne.

The areas of Chailly and Praz Sechaud have been chosen for the pilot network, which will assess the opportunities for reducing the cost of rollout by sharing physical infrastructure. Work to connect the pilot network to about 3,000 households is expected to be completed in early 2010.
