Irish cablers want iPlayer

Irish cabler Chorus NTL is in talks with state broadcaster RTÉ about making its iPlayer catch-up service via its set-tops.

The iPlayer service is only available to Irish viewers online, but Liberty Global-backed Chorus NTL wants to replicate a deal between UK cabler Virgin Media and the BBC, whereby the former makes the latter’s catch-up service available on its cable TV service. Chorus NTL has seen its subs base decline in recent times and currently has 518,700 TV customers.
