Tele2 to offer HDTV in first quarter

Dutch internet service provider Tele2 plans to upgrade its pay-TV service to include HDTV and other new features in the first quarter of next year, according to local reports.

Tele2 plans to add IP-based convergent services later in 2010, according to the reports.

Tele2 launched VDSL services in the Netherlands at the weekend, providing 60Mbps internet access. The service is currently available to 200,000 households, mostly in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Utrecht and Groningen. The operator plans to increase coverage to one million households in 2010.
