Zon strikes VOD deal with Universal

Portuguese pay-TV provider Zon Multimédia has signed a deal with Universal Pictures to include movies from the US studio on its Videoclube on-demand service, available on its cable network in Lisbon, Porto, Coimbra and Margem Sul.

The deal means that Zon has so far struck VOD deals with five US majors, including Paramount, Warner, Sony and Disney. The Universal deal means it will be able to offer movies including Mamma Mia, The Wrestler and Frost/Nixon, as well as NBC TV shows such as House and Heroes on its on-demand platform.
