Deutsche Telekom grows IPTV base

Deutsche Telekom’s IPTV service T-Home Entertain had 561,000 subscribers installed by the end of June. Telekom said it had sold 721,000 subscriptions to the service by the end of the second quarter, a year-on-year increase of 188%. At the end of the first quarter, Telekom had sold about 600,000 subscriptions, of which 448,000 were installed.


Telekom’s domestic fixed-line T-Home business achieved a 59% share of net DSL additions in the second quarter, according to the company. Domestic fixed-line quarterly revenue decreased by 5.1% year-on-year to €4.7bn as a result of competition in the market. Nevertheless, EBITDA for the second quarter was €1.6bn, representing a 33.4% improvement in EBITDA margin. 
Overall Telekom said it had stabilised its business during the second quarter, with revenues boosted by the inclusion of Greek telco OTE for the first time. Overall quarterly revenue was €16.2bn, up 7.4%, with EBITDA of €5bn, up 10.1%.
