Digital cable overtakes satellite

Digital cable overtook DTH as the leading platform for pay-TV globally in 2008, according to research compiled by market research group IMS.

According to IMS, cable added 32 million new digital subscribers to DTH satellite’s 16 million in 2008, taking the cable total to 130 million, compared with 119 million for satellite. About 57% of the new digital cable subscribers globally came from China.
