Harmonic transcoding integrates YouTube fingerprint technology

Video equipment specialist Harmonic has announced that its Rhozet Carbon Coder transcoding solution can now be used as a delivery platform for generating ID files for video-sharing website YouTube’s Content ID System.

Harmonic said Carbon Coder users can automatically generate an ID file or fingerprint of the video content they own during the transcode process. Using YouTube’s Content ID System, they are then able to upload these ID files to YouTube and use them to automatically identify their content in user-uploaded videos on the site. They can apply usage policies that have been specified by the content owners regarding how they want matched content to be handled by YouTube, such as monetise, track usage statistics or block content.
